The top poker tournament is the WSOP. It was founded back in 1868 in the American state of Texas. It has a history of some of the biggest scores in the poker world.

Ryan Riess

As a newcomer to such a big event, Ryan has managed to beat all his rivals. Whether it was beginner’s luck or Riess’ poker genius is unknown. Fact is, having become an instant millionaire, he decided to invest his money in buying shares of world corporations and thus secured a life free of poverty.

Meerson has been preparing hard for the competition, and spending a huge amount of time training. Greg had been studying the rules and strategies for years. It never even occurred to him that he would get a big score so soon. The American could not even hold back tears after the announcement of the results of the game, and gave the money received to his family.

Joe managed to win the championship almost as soon as he came of age. He had been a gambling enthusiast since childhood thanks to his mother, who worked as a casino croupier. Despite his resounding success in his first big tournament, he wasn’t always so lucky later on. With his winnings, he used the money to buy in for the next games.

Pius Heinz

Unlike his counterparts in this ranking, Pius specialises in online poker. At the physical table, the German rarely appears. Nevertheless, he decided to take part in the famous championship for the first time in 2011 and managed to win. His winnings came in at over $8 million.

Jonathan Duhamel

The Canadian guy won the tournament in 2010. Although not his first time winning, this victory was one of the biggest for a hefty sum of more than $8 million. Duhamel managed to donate part of the money to charity, but the rest was stolen in a decent amount.

Peter Eastgate

The Danish amateur poker player won in 2008. The highlight of the match was that it lasted several days. Peter still managed to get his act together and beat the tension to end up with $9 million. How the champion disposed of the funds is not reported.

Martin Jacobson

Unlike several players listed in this ranking, Swede Martin Jakobson has still participated in far more tournaments. The professional poker player has amassed more than $14 million during his entire poker career. He managed to win the WSOP in 2014 for a total of $10 million.

Jamie Gold

American Jamie Gold hit a tournament jackpot in 2006, adding $12 million to his account. Only the press and spectators did not share the joy with the champion, accusing him of cheating. The player had no equal in the process, but after the tournament Gold could not repeat even the smallest of similar successes.

Daniel Coleman

The winner of the 2011 championship was American player Coleman, who never let up after three days. The hard-fought contest could not get Daniel to relent, winning more than $15 million in the end.

The record-setting win in WSOP history in terms of size came in 2012. It was worth over $18 million. It went to American Antonio who managed to win despite a fierce game.
